SolRx

On July 31st, SolRx hosted a special session for students who recently passed the Evaluating Exam (EE) and are now preparing to take the next big step—the Qualifying Exam (MCQ & OSCE). The transition from the EE to the Qualifying Exam can feel overwhelming, so our goal was to break it down clearly and provide students with the tools and guidance they need to succeed.

EE vs. MCQ: Understanding the Differences

One of the first things we discussed was the difference between the EE and the MCQ Qualifying Exam. While the EE focuses heavily on knowledge recall, the MCQ exam is much more practice-oriented, requiring candidates to apply knowledge to real-life pharmacy scenarios. We also reviewed how the MCQ is scored and the structure of the exam, giving students a clearer picture of what to expect on exam day.

The PEBC Competencies

A key part of the discussion was the PEBC competency framework. We highlighted how questions on the Qualifying Exam are mapped to specific competencies—ranging from patient care, drug distribution, and communication to ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities. By understanding these categories, students can approach their study plans more strategically, ensuring balanced preparation across all areas.

How SolRx Teaches

At SolRx, we believe success comes not from memorizing, but from learning how to think like a pharmacist in Canada. During the session, we explained our teaching approach, which blends:

  • Case-based learning that mirrors real-life practice
  • Step-by-step breakdowns of tough questions
  • Interactive discussions that help students build confidence and critical thinking skills

Ethics in Action: Sample Question

To show students what this looks like in practice, we presented a sample ethics-based question. Together, we walked through how to analyze the scenario, weigh the ethical principles at play, and eliminate distractors to arrive at the most appropriate answer. This exercise gave students a taste of the structured, exam-focused method SolRx is known for.

How SolRx Can Help You Succeed

We closed the session by sharing details about our upcoming MCQ Qualifying Exam course. This comprehensive program is designed to support students every step of the way with:

  • In-depth lectures across all competencies
  • Practice questions and mock exams
  • Faculty guidance and mentorship
  • Proven strategies to manage time and exam stress

Takeaway: Passing the EE is a huge accomplishment, but it’s just the beginning. The Qualifying Exam demands a different approach, and the right preparation can make all the difference. At SolRx, we’re here to ensure that students not only pass—but excel.
